US independent GulfSlope Energy is drilling the first of two wells that will test the potential for US Miocene reservoirs to be accessed in the shallow-water US Gulf of Mexico.
The company said it started drilling at the Canoe-1 probe last week using the jack-up Rowan Ralph Coffman.
The rig is set to reach planned measured depth of 6249 feet in 15 days.
