Hundreds of thousands of barrels per day of UK North Sea oil and gas production has been shut in after the discovery of a hairline crack in an onshore section of the Forties Pipeline System (FPS), writes Rob Watts.
Pipeline operator Ineos said midweek that repairs to the pipeline, which transports about 444,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day of crude and gas liquids from 81 fields, would take “weeks rather than days”.
