Anglo-Dutch supermajor Shell is set to issue a drilling contract for more than two dozen wells as it looks to boost production from its giant Majnoon oilfield in southern Iraq.
Drilling sources said Shell is still weighing up whether to award the contract to Halliburton of the US or Iraqi Drilling Company (IDC).
They added that Halliburton is currently the preferred contractor, but IDC is not out of the race.
