Halliburton’s Evader MWD real-time gyro service is designed to steer wells away from other well bores without interruption by magnetic interference, therefore avoiding the need to spend the extra rig time needed for use of a wireline tool.
Historically, wireline gyro singleshots or steering tools were used to drill in the presence of magnetic interference. Halliburton subsidiary Sperry-Sun performed the field test, which required the well to be kicked off and accurately steered away from two nearby wells.
