For the past three years, residents of Fort Chipewyan, about 250 kilometres north of Fort McMurray have been waiting for Alberta's provincial government and industry to help them find a solution to the trend.

Between 2002 and 2005, three confirmed cases of cholangiocarcinoma, a rare form of liver cancer that occurs in one out of 100,000 people, have been diagnosed.

Its symptoms include stomachaches, lack of appetite, weight loss and yellowing of the skin.
