Argentina has had significant success with its maiden offshore licensing round, attracting more than $700 million of high bids and luring supermajors ExxonMobil, Shell, Total and BP.
UK-listed explorer Tullow Oil and Norway's Equinor were also active bidders for operatorships as Argentina found bidders for 18 of the 38 blocks on offer.
Among the winners, ExxonMobil took a trio of blocks in partnership with Qatar Petroleum in the Malvinas West basin, MLO-113, MLO-117, and MLO-118.
