Two heavyweight South Korean contractors have moved to the fore in the competition to secure the main contracts from US supermajor Chevron for the Ubon gas field development in the Gulf of Thailand.
Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering and Samsung Heavy Industries are understood to have pulled ahead of their rivals in the bid for a large central processing platform and a newbuild floating storage and offloading vessel.
