Dutch offshore construction player Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) has decided to restructure to make up for falling order volumes and tougher competition caused by low oil prices and investment levels.
The plan entails axing about 200 office jobs and 50 offshore positions globally.
“With market conditions and the outlook further deteriorating since the start of this year, the restructuring focuses on adapting HMC to decreased work volumes and on enhancing the cost efficiency and competitiveness of the company,” HMC said.
