Heerema Marine Contractors’ record-breaking US$1.5 billion semi-submersible crane vessel (SSCV) Sleipnir is due to depart Sembcorp Marine’s Tuas Boulevard yard in Singapore late next month for its maiden job.

Sembmarine won the $1 billion contract to construct the newbuild SSCV in 2015.

The vessel was originally due for delivery before the end of 2018 but despite the six-month overrun — a delay attributed to a longer-than-expected engineering phase — the job came in on budget, according to Heerema officials.
