The Houston-based company said it has completed the detailed engineering for the new vessel and expects to begin construction “in the near future”.
More details are likely to emerge from the contractor’s quarterly conference call with analysts on 23 February.
Dubbed internally as the “Q-plus”, the as-yet unnamed vessel is intended to serve as the next generation in well intervention technology, incorporating all the company’s experience operating the Q4000.
