The Fiscal Incentives for Indigenous Operators Bill has been adopted by the committee "and it remains to be submitted to the plenary of the House". Ojougboh said his committee has agreed with the position of the Nigerian Association of Indigenous Explorers&Producers (Naipec).
"There are a lot of rather stiff penalties in existing legislation and the Nigeria National Petrol-eum Corporation (NNPC) has explained to us that such incentives have often been abused, he said."
