Mol now plans to sell its gas division in an effort to stem losses.
Net sales rose 15% year-on-year to 541 billion forints ($1.97 billion) in the first six months, but the Gas and Power division made a loss of 78 billion forints ($284 million), which pushed the firm into the red.
The company made a profit of 35 billion forints in the January-June 2000 period.
