An industry source said Hunt“could farm down”after 2500 kilometres of CGG-Veritas seismic data has been interpreted. Hunt's wholly-controlled exploration licence covers about 38,000 square kilometres in the Luderitz basin.

It previously held the acreage under a reconaissance licence.

Hunt also operates the Sangomar-Rufisque block off Senegal, where CGG-Veritas' Symphony vessel is close to completing a 2050-kilometre 3D shoot.

Also in Senegal, Edison has farmed out a 40% stake in its Rufisque Deep licence to Brazil's Petrobras, leaving itself with 55% and Petrosen with 5%.
