Mexican regulators have approved an exploration plan filed by Malaysian operator Petronas covering its deep-water Huracan prospect on acreage awarded in the nation's Round 2.4.

Petronas is planning investments of $89 million to drill a single well at Huracan in the fourth quarter of 2020, as well as carry out exploration studies, according to Mexico's National Hydrocarbons Commission.

The prospect is targeting Lower Miocene and Eocene objectives and will be drilled in 1340 metres of water.
