Sources said players that have received letters inviting them to express interest are French contractor Technip, which is talks with China’s Offshore Oil Engineering Company (COOEC) to form a consortium, Sapura from Malaysia, Saipem from Italy, Heerema Marine Contractors of the Netherlands and Oslo-listed Subsea 7.
Husky wants the job to be done in April or May next year but sources said that the vessels owned by these contractors have either made earlier commitments or are not capable of performing the job due to limited capacity of the tensioners of the vessels.
