Hydro's new oil and gas director Tore Torvund this week invited Shell to operate the development phase of the future field project. Hydro would take over once the gas starts flowing. The Norwegian Ministry of Oil and Energy has given the oil companies until 15 November to reach an agreement. A Shell spokesman declined to comment until after the two companies meet today (Friday) but a source at the company implied the proposal is not a good solution .
Hydro bid for truce on Ormen
NORWAY'S Norsk Hydro has handed an olive branch to Norske Shell in a bid to settle a dispute over development of the Ormen Lange gas field in the Norwegian Sea but conciliation is unlikely, writes David Burke.
