South Korea's Hyundai Engineering & Construction is said to be in pole position for a $2 billion contract for the long-delayed Common Seawater Supply Project (CSSP), which is vital to efforts to expand output from giant oilfields in the southern Basra region, writes Nassir Shirkhani.
Sources said the job being offered covers the treatment plants and facilities construction, while bidders are also chasing another package covering the pipeline system that will transport the water.
