The project is the latest stage in the development of seven gas fields in central Algeria.
In Salah Gas has been producing from three fields in the north since 2004. Drilling of 26 wells in the southern fields started in 2014 and is to be completed in 2018.
BP said the project’s scope includes a new 500 MMcfd central processing facility close to Hassi Moumene, modifications to existing processing facilities at the Reg, Teg and Krechba fields, 150 kilometres of carbon steel export pipelines, 160 kilometres of 13% chrome corrosion resistant infield flowlines and the drilling and tie-in of the planned new wells.
