According to the governor of the Mangistau region, Alik Aydarbayev, authorities have given approval for the producer to shoot seismic to research deep layers at its existing licence block in the region.
The block includes the producing Karazhanbas field, which holds estimated recoverable reserves of about 300 million barrels of heavy oil and is currently pumping about 40,000 barrels per day.
