Indonesia went to the polls this week with almost 193 million eligible voters across the sprawling archipelago — the first time that the nation’s presidential, parliamentary and regional elections took place on the same day, writes Amanda Battersby.

Some 245,000 candidates were chasing 20,000 local and national seats, while the presidential race is a rematch of the 2014 contest between incumbent Joko Widodo, known locally as Jokowi, and ex-general Prabowo Subianto.
