The Indonesian government has formally opened the auction for three producing assets — Makassar Strait, South Jambi B and Selat Panjang — and for a trio of exploration blocks.

The existing production sharing contracts for Makassar Strait and South Jambi B are due to expire in 2020 and that for Selat Panjang in the following year.

US supermajor Chevron, which currently operates Makassar Strait, has informed the Indonesian authorities that is does not want an extension for the block even though it is home to the producing West Seno field.
