Atwood Oceanics’ semi-submersible Atwood Seahawk has been standing outside the oil port for three months now, — ostensibly for repairs, according to a senior Bollores Logistics Western Zone executive — but officially headed for scrap. Port authorities say its sister rig Atwood Hunter has been moored further off Takoradi harbour awaiting “orders” since 31 December.
With all major service sector contractors laying off locals, the Energy Ministry has written to Tullow Oil warning that Ghanaians playing core technical roles should not be affected.
