Japanese operator Inpex will build the onshore facilities for its 9.5 million tonnes per annum grassroots Abadi liquefied natural gas in South Tanimbar, Indonesia, writes Amanda Battersby.

Upstream regulator SKK Migas has instructed West Southeast Maluku District head Petrus Fatlolon to reserve 600 hectares of land in that area for the grassroots LNG project.

“Currently I cannot yet announce the precise spot for the location to prevent land owners from taking advantage by raising their land price,” Petrus said.
