Copenhagen-based Maersk Drilling has confirmed that it has been awarded the prized three-year contract for development drilling at the Ichthys field off northern Australia, writes Russell Searancke.
The Danish company’s ultra-deepwater semi-submersible Maersk Deliverer has for some time been seen as the leading contender to secure this prime contract, primarily because the rig’s technical specifications are in line with the requirements of Ichthys operator Inpex.
