Trading of Gazprom stock began on the RTS last Friday, fulfilling Russian President Vladimir Putin's decree that cancelled the ruling that Gazprom shares could only be traded on four state-authorised exchanges.
The RTS caters for large Western investors and funds, and prices Gazprom's stock in US dollars, as opposed to the authorised St Petersburg exchange, where shares are priced in Russian roubles.
