The arrangement would see Georgia start to import 35 million cubic feet of gas per day from Iran for an initial test period of seven months. It would then expand to more substantial volumes if a commercial agreement is finalised.
The Iranian gas would transit Armenia through a pipeline built there by Iran some years ago.
If finalised, the planned deal would make Georgia the fifth neighbouring country with which Iran has, or is negotiating, gas supply agreements.
