The two companies have agreed to build the proposed C$300 million (US$289 million) Canaport Energy East Marine Terminal at Irving’s existing Canaport import terminal in Saint John.
The project will run in tandem with TransCanada’s plans for the Energy East pipeline, announced late last week, to send up to 1.1 million barrels per day of western Canadian crude to refineries in Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick, as well as to export oil to foreign markets.
