Jansz-Io operator Chevron believes the front-end engineering and design phase of the Australian field's compression project should provide opportunities for local providers of goods and services, writes Russell Searancke.
The compression project will enhance the gas recovery rates from the large deep-water Jansz-Io field into the Gorgon LNG facility.
In a first for Australia, subsea compression will be used to prolong the life of Jansz-Io rather than the more traditional compression system loaded onto a large offshore platform.
