US supermajor Chevron has put engineers to work on the optimum design of a large deep-water semi-submersible that is expected to provide gas compression at the Jansz-Io field off Western Australia.
Sources said that two of the engineering companies involved in the concept design phase are WorleyParsons and Aker Solutions, with the former focusing on semi-submersible topsides design and the latter bringing its experience to the table in big semisub hull design.
