Japan’s Inpex has gained onshore Block 4 in Abu Dhabi’s competitive licensing bid round that was launched in April last year with the goal of adding to gas and oil reserves in the Persian Gulf producer, which pumps almost all the oil production of the United Arab Emirates, writes Nassir Shirkhani.
The award further cements energy ties with Japan, which imports 25% of its crude oil needs from the UAE.
