Joko has appointed a former Corruption Eradication Commission senior official to head up the graft-ridden upstream regulator SKK Migas.

The Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources also seems to have bucked its usual tardy trend, announcing that operator Pertamina will be given a new contract for its Offshore North West Java (ONWJ) block, which is not due to expire until 2017. This is in stark contrast to some producing blocks, the fate of which remains uncertain, months, if not years, after their contracts have expired.
