Jordan strapped for options after BP leaves Risha gas field

State-owned National Petroleum Company (NPC) was working with BP to increase output from the field.

“BP has conveyed to NPC that its exploration activities in Jordan have been unable to establish the technical basis for a development project either in the deep exploration target or the existing NPC -operated Risha gas field.

As a consequence, BP will hand back its interest and operation in the Risha concession this year to its partner NPC, which will continue operations, the UK supermajor said.
