The giant Kashagan development in Kazakhstan’s sector of the Caspian Sea entered full shutdown mode last week for inspection, maintenance and limited brownfield construction work that is set to last more than a month.

Maintenance and replacement of degraded equipment is taking place at the Bolashak onshore plant, where oil and gas is processed for export, and at the main offshore production and processing D island, said a spokeswoman for operator North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC).
