North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC) said it cannot give a restart date for the project, which had a false start late last year, until it determines what repairs are required.
The operating company said it believes sulphur-stress cracking is “the root cause of the pipeline issues” at Kashagan.
“It seems that everything with Kashagan is associated with delays. Oil production start up was eight years behind schedule, now test results for the pipeline leakage are postponed twice,” said a source in the Kazakh Energy Ministry.
