The contract was awarded by Statoil, operator of Block 2, which holds about 9 trillion cubic feet of gas in-place in two discoveries, Zafarani and Lavani.
Statoil and its partner ExxonMobil are clearly keen to push ahead with an LNG commercialisation scheme and aim to resume Block 2 drilling next year.
