Botswana’s government has granted local player Kalahari Energy Botswana (KEB) preferred bidder status for the construction of a 97-megawatt coalbed methane-fuelled power station, writes Iain Esau.

KEB, via its wholly-owned subsidiary Sekaname, has been notified of its successful bid by the Ministry of Mineral Resources (MMR).

This notification came after KEB submitted a proposal to the MMR in October for the development of a CBM-fired power plant with a capacity of up to 100 MW.
