A large number of wells are set to be drilled in Kenya’s interior in the next two years, according to Energy & Petroleum Ministry Principal Secretary Andrew Kamau.

The aim is the commercialisation of resources in the South Lokichar basin, where pipeline-led exports are anticipated by 2023.

Operator Tullow Oil and partner Africa Oil are expected to reach a final investment decision on their Lokichar project later this year in order to meet that first oil target.
