Singapore’s Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) is pressing ahead with the development of an autonomous tug, which is set to be one of the South-East Asian nation’s first autonomous vessels.

The unit, which will be a modified 65-tonne tub, will be retrofitted with advanced systems, such as position maneuvering, digital pilot vision and collision detection and avoidance capabilities.

An onshore command centre will also be set up to remotely control the unit, which is set to be completed in the fourth quarter next year.
