The 500,000 barrel per day field development was scheduled to come on stream in June. The field was originally planned to begin production in December.
Saudi Aramco's operations chief Khalid al-Falih attributed the delay to completing the plant to process gas at the Khursaniyah facilities.
"The gas plant is a major delay. It's really a disappointment," he told Reuters news agency. "All of it will be ready in a few months."
