The award comes only days after Statoil's president Henrik Carlsen expressed concern that the Norwegian offshore supply industry is losing ground to international rivals (see story right).
"Dragados was selected on the basis of a broad assessment," said Statoil vice president Nina Udnes Tronstad.
Among other suppliers competing for the job were Aker Kvaerner and Heerema Tonsberg with ABB's Haugesund yard as sub-contractor.
