Nexen Energy has decided to suspend a tender covering engineering and fabrication of facilities for the second phase of its Kinosis oil sands project in Canada after the oil price slump hit the development’s commercial viablility.
Contracting sources said they have been notified that the Kinosis 1B (K1B) project has been “suspended”.
China’s Offshore Oil Engineering Company (COOEC) and Canadian yards were in the running for two packages covering the engineering and fabrication of a central processing facility and engineering, procurement, construction and installation of modularised well pads.
