The Irish government has approved Malaysian operator Petronas’ plans to decommission the ageing Kinsale Head gas field off Ireland, writes Amanda Battersby.
Petronas’ local subsidiaries last year sought approval to start decommissioning Kinsale Head in 2020, more than 40 years after the field came on stream.
Ireland’s Ministry of Communications, Climate Action & Environment has approved the decommissioning plan for “certain facilities and activities” in the Kinsale Head field, as well as the Ballycotton gas field.
