"We will confront the issue with everything that we can do of constitutional measures," said Ahmad Sadoun, who heads the six-member Popular Bloc. Sadoun, whose opposition bloc includes tribal and Shia Moslem parliamentarians, said the project "includes a prelude for plundering the country and looting its riches".
Three groups, respectively led by BP, ExxonMobil and Chevron, are competing for the multi-billion dollar project that has been approved by the parliament's finance and economics committee.
