IHI E&C International, a US subsidiary, will take over the business, which was also referred to as EPC Center Houston.
The new company will keep 170 employees, including contract personnel, and continue to be based in Houston.
Kvaerner said it will retain its offshore field development concept and engineering business in Houston along with the onshore-related Kvaerner North American Construction.
Kvaerner’ EPC Center Houston and IHI have worked together as joint venture partners since 2004 on the delivery of LNG regasification and storage terminals in the US.
