JX NIPPON Oil & Gas Exploration has delayed by another two years the start-up of its Layang oil project off Sarawak, Malaysia, writes Russell Searancke.
Production was originally targeted for the second quarter of 2016, but the financial problems of the project’s main contractor, TH Heavy Engineering of Malaysia, have hampered progress.
Construction work on the floating production, storage and offloading vessel was suspended more than one year ago.
