Libya’s United Nations-sponsored government in Tripoli has received warnings it is failing in its mission to unify the country, even as the National Oil Corporation (NOC) appeals for more funds to repair war-damaged oil infrastructure.
The warnings come despite military success, with militia supporting the government making further advances against so-called Islamic State (IS) forces in Sirte.
The UN’s Libya envoy Martin Kobler said the unity government is “crumbling” amid increasing power outages and a weakening currency that is affecting vital imports.
