The decision occurred after Pedro Barusco, a former executive with both Petrobras and Sete Brasil, accused five shipyards of paying millions of dollars in bribes to be awarded contracts by Sete Brasil to build drilling rigs in Brazil.
It is understood that BNDES was set to disburse a long-delayed $3.1 billion tranche of financing to Sete Brasil.
The cash lifeline would be enough to keep the Sete Brasil project afloat for many months, after payments to shipyards ceased last November.
