US-BASED liquids company Williams has made several strategic acquisitions in a move to build up its position in the Canadian market. The company has picked up a stake in the 3000-kilometre Cochin liquids pipeline from Dow Chemical along with a number of large midstream assets from TransCanada PipeLines. Through the purchases, Tulsa, Oklahoma-based Williams will become the second-largest player in Canada's gas liquids production, processing and transportation segments behind long-time market leader BP.
