The use of gas from the big offshore fields on the Plataforma Deltana, Mariscal Sucre and Blanquila-Tortuga areas is once again being reconsidered, according to PDVSA Gas director Anton Castillo.

“There were outlines of agreements with a number of companies, but both upstream and downstream aspects of these projects are now under review,” he said.

Castillo said the decision was based on deteriorating economics caused by declining LNG prices and the heavy investment costs that the project would require.
