Drilling off Guyana presents a special set of challenges due to the geography of the area and the lack of existing facilities.

Currently, many of the bulk materials such as drilling mud and cement used by the drillship Stena Carron working for ExxonMobil are sourced from the shorebase at Chaguaramas on the island of Trinidad. ExxonMobil is supplying its operations using three large platform supply vessels and one fast-supply crew boat, explains Richard DeNobrega, project manager for Ramps Logistics, which handles logistics for ExxonMobil’s drilling campaign.
